Randolph Carter Studios

Honoring the intrepid dream traveler, Zann's Music operations center is going to be located somewhere between the outer limits of unknown Kaddath and La Plata Ave. in Caballito, Buenos Aires according to the relative position of Aldebaran with respect to the Sun.

Our dreamscape studio right now consists of a PC based system with mastering software such as Cubase, Soundforge and Reason which not only can be indistinctively for visual and sonic explorations. We are also in the process of experimenting with Max+Jitter as well, and we expect to dwell soon into projects involving sound tracking live for silent movies (Stay tuned on this. For more information, check the live sound tracking of the 1922 Danish classic Häxan, done by our friends of Joseph Merrick, with Zann’s Music own Manuel Platino playing the Theremin, in the links displayed on the left banner). Our humble studio also has some hardware capabilities such as a bass and guitar effect pedals, a Korg synthesizer and simple experimental homemade electronics used to generate new sounds, specially a Chua’s chaotic oscillator and a Theremin. The exploration of deterministic chaos is also pursuit through simple Matlab coding, trying many different kinds of pseudo-chaotic differential equations of the third order through numerical solutions turned into wave files.

Analog taping is also welcomed and pursued, not only of the traditional kind of live recording, but also through deformation and modification of tapes in search for new sounds. This process also requires some electronic and mechanical modification of tape recorders which we encourage and pursuit.

Sampling through taping is used in our studio, as well as sampling through electromagnetic receptors. We make use of our access to recorded electromagnetic data in the ULF and VLF bands to transform the waveforms into sound through simple carrier modulation into the audio spectrum and digital translation of the electromagnetic waves into mechanical audio waves through coding.

So far our methods are free and available to anyone who requests them, a simple email is needed and we will be happy to provide technical details and support within our capabilities, of course.
